What is the Sierra Club?

The Sierra Club is an international environmental group based in San Francisco. The Club is America's oldest, largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization. Inspired by nature, we work together to protect our communities and the planet.

What is the Chippewa Valley Group?

The Chippewa Valley Group is your local branch of the
Sierra Club. We are an all volunteer organization dedicated to environmental education and conservation. We are one of eight Groups in the Wisconsin John Muir Chapter. We cover the Western Central region of Wisconsin, including Eau Claire.  Click here for a map of our coverage area.   We invite you to contact our Chair Barb Thomas with questions at 715-235-9771 or via email

What does the Chippewa Valley Group do?

Visit our Conservation page to learn about our environmental campaigns.  However, the Sierra Club, as a whole, is well aware of the dangers of "all work and no play" so we are very active in group activities such as hikes, biking events, camping trips, water sports, group meetings and potlucks. See our Outings Calendar to see what fun we have!!  And find out when our Meetings are so we can "meet" you!
