A note of introduction

A note was received in April from a person living near a proposed bottling plant in Polar, WI. This is a trout farm. They proposed pumping 780,000 gallons per day, the equivalent of 144 full semi-tractor trailer loads per day.

A note received May 1 said that the town agreed to limit the production to 12,000 gallons per day. This equates to about 2 truck loads per day which is an acceptable level. Good news!

Turns out this was a premature note. Discussion continues, and an effort is being made to obtain legal help to stop this.

Update from May 15: [Six of us] attended the Polar Town Board meeting tonight with the rezoning issue for Dennis Hose on the agenda. When the Town Chairman (Bill Walton) finished reading the restrictive covenants created by the township and their attorney for the rezoning permit (restrictions which [environmentalists] wanted made even more concise), he asked Hose if he accepted those conditions. Hose said, "No," and advised that he was withdrawing his petition to rezone! This is PROBABLY not the end of this issue.
