Board Members & Committees

The board, also known as the Executive Committee (ExCom), consists of 13 members. ExCom members are elected in December for three-year posts. For continuity, one-third (4 or 5) are elected each year. Vacancies created during the year or not filled during an election may be filled by appointment, approved by the ExCom.

Nominations for the ExCom are handled by a temporary ExCom committee. Nomination essays and the election are done through the group newsletter, with ballots to be returned in late December. New positions begin in January.

All Sierra Club members within the geographical boundaries of our group are eligible to vote. Ballots are distributed with our group newsletter. The elections are to select board members. At the January board meeting the board members select the officers and assign duties among themselves.

ExCom members generally also serve on one or more committees. Other non-ExCom members may also serve on committees.
