The Sierra Club is an organization for people who love the outdoors and want to enjoy it and
protect it for themselves and others to enjoy. Consequently it is necessary for us to be involved
in the election process.
The Sierra Club sometimes makes political endorsements.
The local Group may vote during a meeting of the local Executive Committee (board) to endorse
a candidate. The Chapter Executive Committee must also approve the endorsement.
The Chapter and National organizations also endorse candidates through a formal process.
Endorsements are made on the basis of environmental issues. This is based on past environmental voting records and leadership.
