Photo of the Month Agreement and Instructions

Thank you for your interest in submitting photos for SEGG's “Photo of the Month”. In keeping with Sierra Club's motto of “Enjoy, Explore, and Protect the Planet”, send us your photos of places you enjoy, how you explore, or how you protect the planet and it may be our next Photo of the Month!

Here are the instructions for how to submit photos and what you are agreeing to when you submit a photo:

Agreement:

•  Photos must be submitted to “Photo of the Month” by email. SEGG will use the submission email address to notify the person if their photo has been chosen for “Photo of the Month”, so the person submitting the photo must be available at that email address.

•  SEGG assumes all photos submitted to “Photo of the Month” belong to the person submitting the photo. If the photo you are submitting is not yours, you are responsible for getting permission from the owner to submit their photo and make sure they agree to these terms. SEGG assumes no liability for photos submitted without the owner's permission.

•  It is the responsibility of the person submitting the photo to make every reasonable effort to obtain permission from anyone pictured in the photo to post that photo on the Internet. If the person pictured is a minor, permission must come from a legal guardian. SEGG assumes no liability if a person's picture is submitted to “Photo of the Month” without their consent.

•  When a photo is chosen as the “Photo of the Month”, SEGG will notify the person by replying to their email informing them of the decision. This notification will go out at least 24 hours prior to posting the photo on the website. The person who submitted the photo may reply and decline to have their photo posted to the website up until the point where it is posted. If someone would like their photo taken down after it is posted, SEGG will make every effort to honor that request as quickly as possible, but response times will depend on the availability of the volunteer website administrator.

•  Once a photo is posted to the SEGG website it becomes public property. Anyone who submits a photo needs to understand that SEGG has no software that would prevent someone from downloading the photo to their home computer. Please do not submit a photo if you would feel uncomfortable with people you have never met before downloading the photo for their own personal use. SEGG assumes no liability for damages caused by posting submitted photos in the public domain.

How to Submit a Photo to “Photo of the Month”:

1. Please read the above agreement carefully! “Photo of the Month” is meant to be fun and the agreement above should help keep it fun for everyone.

2.  You may submit up to 3 family-friendly photos per month by emailing your photos to SEGGWebAdmin@gmail.com . Submitted photos will be kept on file for up to 3 months and may be selected as a photo of the month at any time during those 3 months.

3.  Please include the following information with each photo:

  • Name of the person “Photo of the Month” should credit with taking the picture – this can be a full name, nickname, screen name, or “Anonymous”
  • Where the picture was taken – please include city, state, or country (if outside the U.S. ) when relevant
  • Optional: photo title or subject of the photo

If you are submitting more than 1 photo, make sure it is clear which information goes with each photo - you may do this by using separate emails for each photo or by describing the photo that goes with each set of information

If you enjoy sharing your photos, please consider submitting your photos to Sierra Club's Daily Ray of Hope or Sierra Club Trails
