AB40 prohibits the disposal in solid waste disposal facilities of dredged material that contains polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).
Sierra Club supports permanent treatment and/or destruction of PCBs. Contaminated dredged material that cannot be treated should be placed in a segregated cell in TSCA approved land fill, reclaimed for treatment later with effective treatment technologies.
